National Crochet Month 2019

I’m participating in the International Crochet Month Designer Showcase with Underground Crafter. Come join the fun! Every day in March 2019, we’ll highlight a different crochet designer who is also a member of the Crochet Guild of America. Each designer will share a free crochet pattern or a 25% discount on a premium pattern. We’ve partnered with some of our favorite companies to get some great prizes for you — including yarn, crochet hooks, notions, pattern books, and more! Find out more information about participating designers, the schedule, and how to enter to win the prizes on Underground Crafter.

Have you heard of the Crochet Guild of America – CGOA??

I have been a member for ?? years. My first CGOA conference was in Concord NC. When I walked into the convention center by myself I was immediately welcomed by a group from NY, I grew up in NJ. Not only did they have a similar accent but they spoke crochet! I have not missed a conference since. As an Associate Professional I had Margaret Hubert as my mentor, imgine…. I then became a Professional member. I have been designing since 2007? 9? But my knowledge of the industry really grew the more involved I became with CGOA. By meeting other designers, industry company executives like Lion Brand, Red Heart and Clover the networking began. I am NOT introverted like many in the craft business, I just jumped in..

I will say that my favorite part of being a member of CGOA is an instant family of crochet sisters and brothers. We speak the same language, have a passion for crochet and love keeping in touch all year then seeing each other once a year.

I was on the Board of Directors 2015-2017. That was a fabulous learning opportunity to see the back side of the non-profit.

I would encourage everyone to join or at least go to crochet.org and look around. There are some areas of website for members only. In addition to getting Crochet! magazine subscription, there are several discounts, a forum through the website, contests, challenges, giveaways, and there are 2 Ravelry groups. A Cyber Chapter if there is not one in your area and a general CGOA group.

For all of you to celebrate International Crochet Month

To celebrate crochet I am launching a new pattern Twisted Cowl for 25% off (no coupon or code needed) click HERE to be taken to my Ravelry Store. I used yarn from Yarn Rainbows, a lightweight wool in 2 colors that look like they twist with this stitch. Stop in market to see the beautiful yarns and linens Saule has and many crochet patterns available too.

You can win this kit. Only you have to make the cowl….

Yarn Rainbows has given me the yarn to add to my pattern as a prize for International Crochet Month. You will receive a printed pattern with chart, 2 balls of Bay Beby in a brown and turquoise. You choose which color to be the dominate color. US residents only. Enter below.

  1. Very pretty cowl! Just bought the pattern from your Ravelry page.

No, I am not a member of the Crochet Guild of America, but maybe one day I will join.
No, I will not be in NH this summer. Hmmm, I have never been in that state. Probably very pretty there in the summer.

    1. It is pretty in summer. Central Florida Crochet is meeting at the new shop, She Sells Yarn, in Ormond April 13th…

      1. Bummer, I can’t show up. My daughter is in the Never Quit Run and I like to be there for her. Maybe next time. 🙂
